EA's NFL Madden 12 Sells 1.4 Million Copies in Launch Week

Electronic Arts announced that EA Sports Madden NFL 12 has sold 1.4 million copies in its launch week. This is an increase of 10% over last year's opening weeks ales. Madden NFL 12 also had the top paid app in the Android Market and top ten app in the Apple App store.
EA Sports says Madden NFL 12 fans have played over 5.4 million online connected game sessions since launch, which is the equivalent of over 10,000 regular NFL seasons.
The gaming industry could have used the strong Madden 12 sales in August. The absence left a huge hole in August video game sales, which Gamasutra calls "alarming."
