Warner Bros. Wants to Make Space Invaders Movie
The L.A. Times reports that Warner Bros. wants to bring Space Invaders to the big screen.
Gordon is a film veteran with experience at the big-budget art house ("Saving Private Ryan") as well as the big-budget commercial ("The Day After Tomorrow"). Blum is best known for producing horror breakout "Paranormal Activity," while Casady is a manager-producer with a slew of high-profile clients.
It's not surprising that Warner Bros. would look to jump-start a Space Invaders movie; last summer the studio bought Midway, the video game's U.S. publisher (which does not control theatrical rights), and also is developing a feature of another video game, "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider."
There isn't much to the game of Space Invaders so we hope the screenwriters hvae lots of good ideas. There is also a Missile Command movie on the way. That is another game where writers will have to get creative to make it work on the silver screen.

Space Invaders Tights
These space invaders tights have little green, yellow, red and blue space invaders on them. Geekologie says the tights are made by a company named Black Milk Clothing. We don't see the tights listed on the site currently. There are some similar tights there but no gaming tights.

What Space Invaders Look Like
This is a great interpretation of what Space Invaders might actually look like. The design is from a t-shirt available on Threadless. You can buy the t-shirt here.

Birthday Invaders
Blue Mountain, an retailer of animated online greeting cards, has an animated birthday ecard that includes a game of Birthday Invaders. The game is just like space invaders except the aliens are replaced by invading birthday party supplies. The graphics in the game are very unremarkable but because the game is contained in an ecard it might be funny as a birthday ecard for a gamer friend. You will need to register with Blue Mountain to be able to send this ecard.

Crafter Knits Space Invaders Tote Bag
A crafter named Brenda at Crafster.org has knitted a cool Space Invaders tote bag. A link to the chart can be found here on Crafster.org.
This bag is loosely based on Deb Stoller's intarsia bag in the first book (second book?). But I didn't add enough to the sides, so had to knit a side/bottom piece to make it a little wider. And I did the straps on dp's instead of straights. And I added webbing to the underside of the straps to make the straps unstretchable. And I added a lining. So, really, I guess the only thing I got from Deb's pattern is the gauge and general dimensions. That's something.
More pictures of the handbag can be found here. (Via Boing Boing)
