SimAnimals

Electronic Arts Inc. announced plans for SimAnimals, which is a new franchise from The Sims Label. EA says SimAnimals will establish a whole new category of wild animal games. SimAnimals will be available exclusively for the Wii and the Nintendo DS in January 2009.

In SimAnimals players can engage with animals in their natural simulated surroundings. Players control an on-screen animated hand that allows them to reach out and touch, pick up and move everything in the game from foxes and bears to trees and flowers. Players cohabitate with these animals in their natural surroundings. The animals will come to love or dislike the players depending on how players treat them.

Some of the friendly wild animals include deer, squirrels, rabbits, hedgehogs and owls. There will also be some mischievous characters like foxes, raccoons, badgers, crows and bears who EA says love to stir up trouble. Perhaps, in the future EA may release a Safari or Australian version of SimAnimals that features more exotic animals.

Here's the video from YouTube that shows the animated hand you control. The graphics for the game look very good.
