The National Ledger ran a story a few months ago about a Carmen Electra pole dancing exercise game for the Nintendo Wii. The story suggested that Peekaboo Pole Dancing - the company that makes a Carmen Electra pole dancing kit - would be behind this video game.
According to the report, Peekaboo Pole Dancing, the company behind the Carmen Electra home pole dancing kit, is looking to bring the new exercise to the makers of the game. The report speculates, "Pole dancing would certainly be an interesting fit for the Nintendo Wii, and it would be something to see how big of a pole they would actually ship with a game."
The Wii Balance Board will be out soon, will it become a striper board as well? Best guess is no, but it certainly would be right on the edge. In other Carmen news, the busty Playboy model is engaged. Electra's rocker boyfriend, Rob Patterson, popped the question in Las Vegas over the weekend, and she said yes a rep for Electra said.
The Wii Fit is already here but we don't see any signs of a Carmen Electra pole dancing video game. An I4U article says Nintendo did not approve the game but that an Xbox version might happen. An Xbox version just wouldn't be the same as a Wii Fit version.

SingersSing.com is a daily music blog featuring music news and music video clips. Recent posts include:
Jessica Alba is one of the characters in the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer video game, which is based on the blockbuster film. Jessica Alba talked recently with Yahoo Games about video games. Alba's clearly been a gamer since she was little and she says that games have made great progress.
The graphics are insane. They're so real. I grew up playing Bomberman and Pac-Man and Super Mario Brothers and Zelda, where you had just this little guy who could barely walk and the music was like doot... doot... doot. And the way they walked was so stiff and robotic. And now the game characters look like people moving around. It's a similar technology to what we use in Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer. We now know how to make films that are completely animated and computer-generated, and convincingly real.
Alba also told Yahoo Games she likes the Wii and how it gets people active.
I think the physicality of the Wii gets people off the couch. Sometimes you can just sit there playing a video game for hours and never move and you're brain is just zapped from playing the game. With the Wii, you're up on your feet and moving around. The physical aspect of it is great, especially for kids. They actually call it the Wii Diet, since active players can burn calories!
Jessica Alba also explained what it is like to see yourself in a video game.
"I have seen myself in video games, like in Dark Angel or the first Fantastic Four game. It's totally weird. It's like having an action figure. It's super cool, but it's like, there's no way this is real. You know they do body scans and everything to make the game characters look as much like you as they can. It's completely cool and bizarre."
It would be totally weird to see yourself in a video game. We should all be able to have this experience eventually thanks to improving face-scanning technology (see here and here). Someday you will simply scan yourself and make the game the Fantastic Five instead of the Fantastic Four.
You can catch a glimpse of Jessica Alba in the trailer for the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer video game below. The homepage for the video game can be found here.

Electronic Arts announced that the music from the teen music group Aly & AJ has been translated into Simlish, the native language of the Sims. "Chemicals React," a single from Into the Rush, has been recorded in Simlish and will be made available to both music and gaming fans when The Sims 2 Pets Expansion Pack launches on October 17, 2006. Let's hope this Pets expansion is free of disease carrying hamsters! AJ and Aly said they are HUGE fans of The Sims in the press release about the translated song.
"We are HUGE fans of The Sims, so it was really cool to be tapped to provide music for their latest project, The Sims 2 Pets," said AJ. "When we told EA that we could speak Simlish they were really psyched! It was fun to reinterpret our song for The Sims and ultimately, our fans!" Not only was the superstar sister act excited, but they felt a common purpose with The Sims. "One of the things I have always liked about The Sims games is that they are very inclusive, people can play out real storylines from their lives -- like a romantic relationship that's really gotten stressful -- and there isn't a lot of judgment," explained Aly. "We try to do the same thing with our music, give people something that they can relate to, so they think, 'I really get that, I've been through it!'"
The Sims version of the song can be found here. Wikipedia says "Chemicals React" peaked as high as #4 on MTV's TRL show.
Dennis Quaid (In Good Company, The Day After Tomorrow, The Rookie, Far From Heaven and Traffic) is supplying the voice talent for Sierra Entertainment's TimeShift according to a press release from the company. Quaid will provide the voice of Colonel Michael Swift, a man who is haunted by the tragic loss of his daughter. Colonel Swift accepts an offer from the US Government to test an experimental set of time-control devices and he becomes the world's first "chrononaut." Unfortunately he inadvertently alters time during one of the tests and returns to a present changed beyond recognition. The democracy he left has become a fascist nightmare -- and his knowledge of his time travel saga has made him an enemy of the state. It sounds like a terrific plot device. It would have been even cooler if the character was also based on Quaid. TimeShift will be out for the Xbox 360 this September. More details can be found on the official website and on Amazon.com.
Early reports indicated that Paris Hilton announced her new game at the E3 Expo by the wrong name. New stories here and here say Paris Hilton called the game Diamond Quest instead of Jewel Jam -- even though she was surrounded by Jewel Jam logos and promotional materials at her table at E3.
Wearing a green minidress and red platform pumps, Hilton made a brief appearance at the Electronic Entertainment Expo to promote "Paris Hilton's Jewel Jam."
"Sorry I'm late," the heiress said. "I'm really excited to have my new video game, 'Diamondquest.' Thank you all for coming, and you can download the game," she said.
After Hilton arrived, men in business suits jockeyed for space with reporters and computer geeks as she sat at a table posing for photographers while signing autographs.
However, E Online reports that Gameloft says the name of the game was meant to be Diamond Quest all along.
One problem--the promotional materials plastered all over Hilton's booth touted the game as Paris Hilton's Jewel Jam, not Diamond Quest, leading to speculation that perhaps the socialite hadn't bothered to learn her lines before showing up at E3.
On Friday, a publicist for Gameloft tried to back Hilton up, saying that Diamond Quest was one of several names being bandied about for the game before the company settled on Jewel Jam. Moments later, the rep called back, this time insisting that the game's name had been changed to Paris Hilton Diamond Quest from Gameloft just moments before her announcement, despite the slew of promo materials to the contrary. Jewel Jam, the rep claimed, was simply a working title.
The name of the cell phone-based game seems to be an ongoing point of confusion for the game purveyor.
In a May 5 release, Gameloft announced that the game was called Paris Hilton's Jewelry Case, while the official E3 Website has it listed as Paris Hilton's Jewl (yes, "Jewl") Jam.
With all the misinformation out there, it's impressive Hilton was able to produce the correct name when it came time, particularly since all the game-related info at her booth clearly referred to Paris Hilton's Jewel Jam.
Did Paris flub or did she manage to call the game by the right name despite being surrounded by Jewel Jam marketing materials? I guess we will never really know. It is definitely going to be called Diamond Quest now anyway so it doesn't really matter. This is good because Diamond Quest is the better name anyway as the Pleasant Morning Buzzsuggests. A press release from Gameloft confirms the Diamond Quest name and describes the mobile game that will debut in June.
Paris Hilton's Diamond Quest is the first official mobile game featuring the dazzling socialite. The objective, in this simple yet addictive gameplay, is to solve exciting, frantic puzzles based on an easy concept: switch around stunning diamonds in a grid to line up identical gems and - depending on the challenge or mode - beat the high score in a given time. With more than sixty levels and six different modes - including the fun and original "Diamonds are Forever," "Fortune Telling," and "Forget Me Not" - Paris Hilton's Diamond Quest will keep players of all kinds glued to their mobile phones for hours at a time. As an added bonus, photos of Paris herself will be revealed, and the star will regularly show up to guide, help, and challenge you as the game goes on. Even Tinkerbell, her celebrity dog, will make a surprise appearance!
Paris Hilton's Diamond Quest will be launched in June 2006 across 150 carriers worldwide in over 70 countries reaching 1 billion plus subscribers.
MegaGames reports that 2K Games is publishing a Ghost Rider game based on the comic book series and the February 2007 movie starring Nicolas Cage (Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios).
The Ghost Rider feature film follows superstar motorcycle stunt rider Johnny Blaze as he strikes a deal with the vile Mephistopheles for the most precious of commodities -- his immortal soul. Now Johnny Blaze is forever destined to ride night after night as the host to the powerful supernatural entity known as the Ghost Rider. The video game continues the storyline, dropping players into the role of Blaze as he is transformed into a super hero with powers to avenge any evil he encounters. Featuring many of the characters and motorcycles from the comic book and movie, Ghost Rider will engage gamers in an immersive, supernatural third person world with a seamless blend of hand-to-hand combat and high-speed motorcycle action.
A GameSpot says 2K Games acquired the rights to publish Ghost Rider from Majesco. So far the 2K Games website has no information about the game. An earlier story we ran back in July, 2005 when Majesco was working on the game talked about being able to ride Johnny Blaze's supernatural Hell Cycle in the game. The website for the game has not changed since last year. (via Destructoid)
The E3 Expo appears to have more celebrity power this year. VH1's new blog, VH1 Game Break, found Pac-Man sharing a moment with his crush Nicole Richie.
At E3 the stars come out, and such was the case at the Sprint games press conference which featured Pac-Man and his big-time crush, sweet, thin Nicole Richie. The whole thing was staged to introduce "Super Pac-Man" for Sprint Mobile Games. Said Richie, "I used to have a Pac-Man machine in my house, and I loved it. But now I can take Pac-Man everywhere."
It looks like the future of E3 may be celebrity appearances and endorsements. But that just adds to the fun -- especially for the smitten Pac-Man. Mrs. Pac-Man will be so jealous.
Reuters reports that Liquid Entertainment, known for its fantasy games, is developing a game based on the popular Desperate Housewives television series. Gamers get to play a new housewive that investigates scandals on Wisteria Lane.
In the game, players take on the role of a new housewife who can uncover or create new scandals on Wisteria Lane, the seemingly perfect street where the show takes place.
Actress Brenda Strong, who is the voice of deceased housewife Mary Alice Young on the show, has signed on for a similar role in the game. Negotiations are in the works with the other cast members, a spokeswoman for Buena Vista Games said.
The game's developer is Liquid Entertainment, creator of the PC game "Dragonshard."
A BBC article says the buzz is that the game will resemble the Sims games. The BBC also reports difficulties in getting the popular cast to agree to in-game appearances.
So far the only member of the cast of Desperate Housewives to commit to appearing in the game is Brenda Strong who plays the voice of the show's dead narrator, Mary Alice Young.
Buena Vista Games, which will distribute the title, said it was negotiating with other members over their appearance in the game.
It sounds almost as difficult as getting the Wisteria Lane girls together for a magazine cover photo shoot. The game is due out in late 2006.
Varietyreports that a deal has been cut that will bring Vin Diesel to both game systems and the big screen in a role as an expert driver in the Wheelman
In one of the biggest partnerships to date between a vidgame publisher and a studio, MTV Films and Paramount are developing Midway Games' "The Wheelman" as a feature film.
Plan is to release the pic and the game simultaneously; Vin Diesel is signed on to star in and produce both.
"Wheelman" is an action-adventure title about an expert driver who comes out of retirement to protect a woman from his past.
ParPar and MTV Films bought the rights from Midway, which is already well into development on the game for next generation consoles Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Budget is believed to be north of $15 million -- on the high end for videogames.
Variety says the game and film will be released simultaneously sometime in late 2007. Midway will produce the game with the big $15 million budget and MTV will provide the game's soundtrack and sell ads within the game according to the article. The game will be available for Xbox 360 and PS3 game systems. GameSpot also has an article about the Wheelman project.
Tomb Raider Chronicles reports that Karima Adebibe has been chosen as the next international face of Lara Croft. Karima Adebibe is a model living in London. Adebibie also had a role in the Alien vs. Predator film.
"This is an incredible opportunity for me and one which I plan to grasp with both hands" said Karima. "It's a huge challenge to follow in the footsteps of people like Nell McAndrew and Angelina Jolie, but life is all about challenges and this is perhaps the biggest one for a model and actress."
"Karima has all the assets needed to accurately portray the world's favourite female action hero" said Matt Gorman, Brand Controller for Tomb Raider. "Lara Croft Tomb Raider Legend sees Lara at the very height of her powers this makes Karima the 7th and most important Lara Croft yet."
Already tipped as 'the blockbuster video game for 2006' this will be the seventh game of English publisher Eidos' hit series and sees Lara Croft return to her tombraiding roots. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Tomb Raider is one of the best selling videogames of all time. Lara Croft has transcended games, entertainment and technology into action figures, comic books, adventure novels, and two major motion pictures.
Karima follows in the footsteps of previous Lara Croft stars, Lucy Clarkson, Rhona Mitra, Nell McAndrew, Vanessa Demouy, Lara Weller and of course Angelina Jolie in the Tomb Raider movies.
Note this is not to be confused with the Tom Raider films. A third Tom Raider film is being considered and will hopefully still star Angelina Jolie if it is made.
The next Lara Croft game is Tomb Raider Legend (Eidos) which is due in stores April, 2006 for the Xbox, PC and PS2. More information about the game can be found on the TombRaider.com, Tomb Raider Chronicles and Amazon.com. (via YesButNoButYes)
Jon Stewart was interviewing the Rock last week on the Daily Show and he gave Stewart a BFG prop to try. Stewart is known for being an active gamer and he was clearly knowledgable about the Doom game. A check on Rotten Tomatoes Doom page shows the movie only has about 20% positive reviews but there were a few good ones. Variety gave it a postive review:
"Videogame geeks and LAN-party enthusiasts everywhere, prepare to meet your Doom -- because it's really not all that bad."
Despite the negative reviews Doom came in first place over the weekend earning $15,488,870 at the box office. This news may bode well for future game to movie releases like the upcoming Halo film.
Steven Spielberg is teaming up with Electronic Arts' production team in L.A. to develop three original video games. In a press release statement Spielberg said he has playing games for years.
Beginning this year, with offices located on site at EALA, Spielberg
will work directly with EA's development teams to offer his signature
style of storytelling to the concept, design, story and artistic
visualization of the new games. EA will own the intellectual
properties and the game franchises will be developed, published
and distributed worldwide by EA. Financial terms of the agreement
were not disclosed.
"I have been playing EA games for years and have watched them master
the interactive format." said Steven Spielberg. "Having watched the
game industry grow from a niche into a major creative force in
entertainment, I have a great deal of respect for EA's understanding
of the interactive format. I'm looking forward to working closely
with the team in Los Angeles."
Variety's EEG News
says the initial game is expected to be a
sci-fi or action adventure game. With Hollywood's most successful director moving into video games we can expect budgets for blockbuster games to get bigger and bigger. And hopefully with Spielberg applying his storytelling skills to these three EA projects the games will get bigger and better as well.
Bethesda Game Studios has announced that Patrick Stewart, Sean Bean and Terence Stamp will join actress Lynda Carter in providing voice talents to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Oblivion, which will debut this holiday season, is being developed for the Xbox 360 and PC platforms. It a sequel to Marrowind, a popular role playing game in 2002. Carter, who is best known for her starring role in Wonder Woman, also gave voice overs for Marrowind. Oblivion was also recently voted "RPG of Show" by the Best of E3 Game Critics Awards. An earlier post about Bethesda and Oblivion can be found here. The website for the game is located here. Amazon.com's Oblivion Xbox 360 listing located here says the game will be available on October 7, 2005.
John Woo and Clive Barker Developing Action Horror Game
The Write News reports that Majesco Entertainment, John Woo's Tiger Hill Entertainment and Clive Barker have joined together to developing a gaming franchise called Demonik. Players get to play a supernatural bad guy in the game.
Demonik is set to launch in 2006 on next generation consoles and is being developed simultaneously as a feature film by filmmaker and writer Clive Barker. Barker is set to oversee the story, character designs, cinematics and voice talent for the game. Barker also has the option to write and direct the film.
A website for the game just has the logo so far. John Woo's Tiger Hill is also working on another action game for 2006 called Stranglehold in collaboration with Midway Games.
Lindsay Lohan, the star of the Herbie Fully Loaded movie, also
appears in the new Herbie game from Buena Vista Games. The video game offers Herbie fans a chance to be behind the wheel of Herbie the Love Bug and play a 3D stock car racing game. The game does include images of Lindsay Lohan, the film's teenage star, when the game is played in "story mode." In the game Herbie competes against AI opponents while a real-time meter shows Herbie's mood. Herbie also has some special racing moves of his own. Herbie Fully Load is a single-player racing game for the Game Boy Advance.
MTV has a cut a deal with Midway Games
to enter the games industry. MTV plans to create
games that target males aged 16-24 -- a demographic
MTV is already very familiar with. The companies said that the first game they will produce will be a racing game called L.A. Rush. Clickz reported that the game will include the crew from MTV's popular Pimp
My Ride television show. Two more titles will follow
the L.A. Rush game. MTV will create a new game
unit called MTV Games and plans to develop games with
multiple game publishers.
Wheaton Explains Agreement Between Actors and Game Producers
Actor, blogger and writer Wil Wheaton has a detailed blog post explaining the deal between voice actors and video game producers. Wheaton says that the residual payments the actors wanted are not profit-sharing like this Reuters article suggests. Wheaton also says the actors were asking for an additional session fee but only after the game had sold a minimum of 50,000 copies. Wil Wheaton says the actors made some gains but he still wishes they had some residual payments:
Anyway, the gains we made are not that great, but they don't completely suck, either:
An immediate 25 percent increase in minimum wages from $556 to $695 for a four-hour session for up to three voices with increases in subsequent years, bringing the daily rate up to $759.
Double time pay after six hours (previously ten hours) for three-voice performers.
A 7.5 percent increase in contributions to the unions' benefits plans, bringing the rate up to 14.3 percent.
I'm very happy about the increase in contributions to the benefits plans, and it's great that 25% of the increase comes right away (usually it's spread out over three years) but I really wish we'd gotten some sort of residual structure in place.
In a pre-show ceremony The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay took home a coveted Moon Man at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards last week. The game, a prequel to last summer's Escape from Butcher Bay won the Best Video Game Based on a Movie award. Vin Diesel himself had some comments during the pre-show where he said he thought the video games industry and film industry would work more and more together over the next few years. Diesel isn't alone -- a recent Hollywood Reporter article discussed Hollywood's growing interest in gaming. Vin Diesel's video-game company, Tigon Studios, co-produced The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay so
it is no surprise that his voice is featured prominently in the
game. A recent Bermuda Sun review recommends the game and
discusses the use of Diesel's voice:
You are Riddick, a very wanted violent criminal in the ultra-secure
Butcher Bay prison. Armed initially with only your hands and near
super-human strength, you battle your way through prisoners and
guards alike, amassing crude weapons like shivs and metal rods as
you go. The graphics are amazing, with the gritty backgrounds and
realistic character depictions drawing you into the tortured world.
While it’s fairly common to have these types of games featuring the
voice of the actual actors, Chronicles goes one further: the voice
of Vin Diesel, the star of Riddick features prominently in not only
cut-scenes, but also in general conversations throughout the game.
Although the storyline is fairly linear, there are multiple ways to
arrive at the same place, some more difficult than others. Talking
with the many other colourful characters in the game can lead to
optional side missions and extra cash should you choose to accept them.
The possibility of a voice actors strike has passed now that
a new agreement has been made. The deal gives voice actors a
36% rate hike but they were still a little dissapointed because game producers will not pay voice actors for each game sold. MTV has more information about the agreement:
"While we did not get all that we want — and deserve — this contract is another important step in building artists' power in this growing sector of the media industry," John Connolly, president of the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists, said in a statement. AFTRA joined the Screen Actors Guild in a three-month standoff between the unions' voice actors and a group of major American game publishers and developers, including Rockstar Games, Electronic Arts and Insomniac Games, the makers of voice-heavy games such as Grand Theft Auto, The GodfatherRatchet and Clank respectively.
Voice actors are threatening to strike against game makers like Electronic Arts and Rockstar Games. Game makers want to pay a flat fee to use actors' voices in video games but the voice actors would prefer to share in some of the profits made from the games. Xeni Jarden has written an article for Wired about the situation.
Roughly 1,900 Screen Actors Guild, or SAG, members and 1,000 American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, or AFTRA, members were asked for authorization to strike against 70 video-game publishers including Activision, Electronic Arts, Vivendi Universal, Rockstar Games and LucasArts.
The most contentious issue at hand: whether actors should be entitled to a share of the profits from video games that feature their voices.
Xeni writes that game publishers have threatened to use nonunion voice actors if SAG and AFTRA members go through with a strike.
From Russia With Love will be the next game in the James Bond game series from Electronic Arts (EA). Sir Sean Connery, appearing in his first-ever videogame, lent his voice and likeness to the project.
"As an artist, I see this as another way to explore the creative process," said Connery. "Video games are an extremely popular form of entertainment today, and I am looking to seeing how it all fits together."
Officially licensed by MGM Interactive, From Russia With Love is being developed by EA's Redwood Shores, California studio. The game is expected to be available this winter for the PS2, Xbox and Nintendo GameCube.
Vivendi Universal Games has announced that several actors including Al Pacino
are lending their likeness and voice talent to the upcoming adaptation of Scarface. Scarface: The World is Yours, set for release this Fall, will allow players to be Tony Montana. The Scarface video game immerses players in a "what if Tony survives" storyline that begins with the explosive shootout at the end of the film. Gamers will travel through the violent streets of Miami and the Caribbean isles and will interact with a world full of seedy and dangerous characters to procure
information, negotiate business deals, smuggle contraband and avoid rivals and DEA on a mission to rebuild their fallen drug empire.
The game's roster of voice actors also includes original Scarface cast members:
Al Pacino (who played Tony Montana), Steven Bauer and Robert Loggia (who
played Manny Ray and Frank Lopez respectively), comedians Jay Mohr and Cheech Marin, and actors James Woods, Miguel Sandoval, Robert Davi, Michael Rappaport and Michael York. Scarface The Game is currently in development by
Radical Games for the PlayStation2, Xbox and PC. The game will be shown publicly for the first time at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles on May 18th. IGN offers an early look at Scarfacehere.
Ubisoft has announced 187 Ride or Die, an urban-themed combat racing game which will ship for game consoles and the PC later this summer. 187 puts players in the thick of a brutal street-racing gang war where victory depends on ruthless driving and deadly shooting skills. Like many of the recent games with a larger budget, 187 Ride or Die will feature real actors including Larenz Tate (Menace II Society, Ray), Noel Gugliemi (Training Day, The Fast and the Furious), and Guerilla Black. 187 Ride or Die tells the story of a reluctant urban hero named Buck (L. Tate), a young man living a thug's life seething with money, fast cars and beautiful women -- with danger lurking around every corner. Set in the underworld of Los Angeles, Buck must defend the territory of his mentor Dupree (G. Black) from a menacing nemesis and his gang of bandit roughriders, led by Cortez (N. Gugliemi), who are determined to take control of the streets.
A new article in Wired magazine offers a look at several film directors who are now working specifically on game projects. Wired says, "Films have long been grist for the gaming mill, from ET for the Atari 2600 to Enter the Matrix for Xbox. But until recently, these movie-based titles were mostly tie-ins and spinoffs. Now big-name directors - David Fincher, John Singleton, Ridley Scott, and David Lynch - are taking their ideas straight to videogame." The film directors in the article include John Singleton (Boyz N the Hood), George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead), John McTiernan (Die Hard), Bryan Singer (X-Men) and John Woo (The Killer). The article mentions that John Woo has even founded his own game studio. Woo is directing a game called ShadowClan from Tiger Hill Entertainment which will be out in Fall 2006.
No. Not a game that costs 50 cents -- wouldn't that be nice?
But a game, called 50 Cent: Bulletproof, for Rapper 50 Cent.
Vivendi Universal Games is publishing the game which stars
50 Cent himself. 50 Cent gets caught in a web of corruption,
double-crosses and shady deals that leads him on a bloody path
through New York's drug underworld where he takes on
dangerous crime families. The game will be announced at the
Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles on May 18th, 2005.
About his new game Rapper 50 Cent says,
"In everything I do, I play to win, I'm out to destroy the
competition and my video game is no different. It's a fantasy
version of my life. I plan to shake up the video game world like
I did the rap world -- I'm pulling no punches with my game."
Electronic Arts and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have secured an all-star cast for the Batman Begins video game. The game will feature the voices and likenesses of Christian Bale (Bruce Wayne/Batman), Michael Caine (Alfred Pennyworth), Liam Neeson (Henri Ducard), Katie Holmes (Rachel Dawes), Cillian Murphy (Dr. Jonathan Crane), Tom Wilkinson (Carmine Falcone) and Morgan Freeman (Lucius Fox), all reprising their roles from the upcoming film directed by Christopher Nolan. Launching day-and-date with the film on June 17, 2005 the Batman Begins video game will explore the origins of the Batman legend and the Dark Knight's emergence as a force for good in Gotham. Gamers will play as both Bruce Wayne and his alter-ego, Batman, hunting classic evil villains like the Scarecrow, Ra's Al Ghul and Carmine Falcone. The game will be available for multiple systems: Xbox, GameCube, PlayStation 2, Game Boy Advance and PSP.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson confirmed to John Stewart on the Daily Show that he will be taking the lead role in the August, 2005 Doom movie based on the super popular computer games. Stewart was fired up that the Rock was taking the role and said that he stays up until 5 am playing Doom games. Gamers might have good reason to be fired up about the movie as well -- a recent IGN article suggests that the Doom film could inspire future Doom games.
Clint Eastwood has gone ahead and made gamers' day by granting his virtual "Dirty Harry" likeness to a new series of video games. In addition to participating in the digitizing of character "Dirty Harry" Callahan, Eastwood will also be consulting on key creative aspects of the game design. "This will be an opportunity to satisfy the many requests over the years to continue the 'Dirty Harry' legacy, only now in the video game medium," said Clint Eastwood. The game will be developed by Warner Bros. Interactive, along with Clint Eastwood's Malpaso and The Tehama Companies. Warner Bros. said the games would be made for next generation consules but did not mention a PC game version in the press release. It has been a good year for Eastwood and it could be a great year -- he is considering to have a good chance of winning Best Director at this year's Academy Awards for the film, Million Dollar Baby.
