Reuters reports that Liquid Entertainment, known for its fantasy games, is developing a game based on the popular Desperate Housewives television series. Gamers get to play a new housewive that investigates scandals on Wisteria Lane.
In the game, players take on the role of a new housewife who can uncover or create new scandals on Wisteria Lane, the seemingly perfect street where the show takes place.
Actress Brenda Strong, who is the voice of deceased housewife Mary Alice Young on the show, has signed on for a similar role in the game. Negotiations are in the works with the other cast members, a spokeswoman for Buena Vista Games said.
The game's developer is Liquid Entertainment, creator of the PC game "Dragonshard."
A BBC article says the buzz is that the game will resemble the Sims games. The BBC also reports difficulties in getting the popular cast to agree to in-game appearances.
So far the only member of the cast of Desperate Housewives to commit to appearing in the game is Brenda Strong who plays the voice of the show's dead narrator, Mary Alice Young.
Buena Vista Games, which will distribute the title, said it was negotiating with other members over their appearance in the game.
It sounds almost as difficult as getting the Wisteria Lane girls together for a magazine cover photo shoot. The game is due out in late 2006.
